Clipforge privacy policy
Last updated 28 September 2026
What Clipforge is
Clipforge is a private tool run by a single operator. It takes public live-stream recordings, cuts short clips from them and publishes those clips to the operator's own YouTube, Instagram and TikTok pages. It has no public sign-up and no users other than the operator.
YouTube API Services
Clipforge uses YouTube API Services to upload the operator's clips to the operator's own YouTube channels and to read statistics about those videos. By using Clipforge you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
What Google data Clipforge accesses and why
When the operator connects a YouTube channel, Google asks for consent to these permissions, and Clipforge uses each one only as described:
- youtube.upload: upload clips as YouTube Shorts to the connected channel.
- youtube.readonly: read the connected channel's own videos and their view, like and comment counts.
- yt-analytics.readonly: read YouTube Analytics for the connected channel's own videos (views, average percentage watched, viewer countries), used to compare which clip styles work.
Clipforge never accesses other people's channels, never posts comments or changes channel settings, and never sells, shares or uses this data for advertising. Clipforge's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What is stored
On the operator's own server: the OAuth token for each connected channel, the IDs of videos Clipforge uploaded, and view, like, comment and watch-time statistics of those videos. Nothing is stored on third-party services.
Revoking access and deleting data
Access can be revoked at any time in two ways: Disconnect in Clipforge's settings (this deletes the stored token immediately), or Google's permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions (security settings). Stored statistics of a channel's videos are deleted within 7 days of a request to the contact address below, and within 30 days after the channel is disconnected.
Other data
Clipforge also stores the clips it makes, their transcripts and the addresses of the posts it publishes. It collects nothing about viewers of the published clips. The console keeps a sign-in cookie for the operator and a short-lived record of failed sign-in attempts by IP address. No analytics or third-party trackers run on this site.
